Artist’s Portfolio

I loved books as a child and was lucky enough to be taken to the library every week. Many of the books I still remember and many of illustrations too. Some were glorious but polished to a never reachable level, as a child who loved to draw, they inhibited rather than encouraged playfulness when drawing myself.

Two needs drive my illustrations, finding the light and finding movement. Search lines and erasures can be found, and watercolour washes sometimes spill over or don’t reach their prescribed boundaries. I hope this inexact playfulness gives confidence to the curious child to celebrate their experiments as they too start their journey in art.
